this is a look at 237 as you cross 880. it looks pretty good. i wonder if the controls can bring up the san mateo bridge. because that bridge is a problem. there was late running road work on the san mateo bridge and you can see if you look at this picture, the traffic is almost backing up toward the toll plaza. they are picking up the cones but you should be aware the san mateo bridge is not a great option for you right now. let's go back to the desk. only on 2, 25 pot plants were seized in an overnight bust in san jose. the raid happened on charter park drive. janine de la vega is right there now. you have new information from the police j mean. >> reporter: i just got off the phone with the police haunt who said the marijuana confiscated was worth $150-$250,000.

you can see here is leftover paraphia fell ya. police got a call from someone doing a maintenance check on the building at charter park drive near capitol expressway. ten officers responded and it took them several hours to haul all the plants out. >> at this point this case will be turned over to our narcotics unit and they will do follow up and see who is leasing this building. >> reporter: police say the business seems to be a front for the grow operation. i've even called the phone

number but nobody is answering that line. here you can see this is next to a business called super tech. on the other side of this industrial park we see an electronic computer company. hopefully as the businesses and the employees arrive, we will see if they noticed any funny business going on inside here. reporting live from san jose janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. police say this kind of indoor pot bust appears to be a new trend. police are discovering fewer marijuana plants growing outside on public land. law enforcement officials believe more marijuana is being grown on private property.

in just a few hours a meet willing be held at a san mateo elementary school where a nine- year-old girl was abducted from a restroom and molested. alex savidge is there at park side elementary where the school is on high alert this morning. >> reporter: even though a man has been arrested in connection with this brazen crime, parents here are still worried. that is why san mateo police and the superintendent will be holding a meeting for parents here at park side elementary school to talk about this kidnapping. nay will also discuss possible changes to the policy. it was last friday when a nine- year-old girl was kidnapped from a stranger at a nearby bathroom. prosecutors filed charges against 25-year-old bradley mrozak of san francisco. he groped that girl inside the bathroom and put his hand over her mouth and carried her off campus. we were able to talk to the man who's daughter is friends with

the victim. >> they all worry about each other so yeah they look up to each other. yet when you go home or something you have to go with the pair. go with your family. >> reporter: and in light of what happened school officials tell ktvu they are considering closing the park side campus all together. and no longer allowing parents to wait outside of their children's classrooms as they do right now. friday's kidnapping keep in mind happened right as school was letting out. the accused kidnapper in this case he was arraigned on felony kidnapping. he also harassed students at two other nearby schools earlier that same day. in the meantime parents worried about the safety of their students. they will be gathering for that meeting. it gets started at 8:30 this morning. live this morning in san mateo alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. our ktvu cameras caught the

warned in his u.n. speech yesterday, time is running out for iran to resolve disputes over the nuclear program but he did not outline specific consequences. reporting live from washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:16 in just a couple hours a concord teenager is expected to be in court reportedly to enter a guilty plea in connection with a crash that killed a father and daughter. it happened back in april on treat boulevard. police say the 17-year-old was speeding when he hit solomon nuri and his nine-year-old daughter when they were riding bikes. just last month he pleaded not guilty to charges. but we are hearing this morning he is expected to enter a guilty plea to vehicle manslaughter charges. minority groups are furious they that san francisco police

computers -- they released arrest totals that date back at least ten years. crimes committed by various asian groups were mostly classified as chinese. programs that help minorities say they need accurate record keeping to better focus on their resources. police blame the error on old computers. they are dividing up asians into 18 subgroups. later this morning a jury is expected to hear police tapes of a san francisco crime lab technician that admitted to stealing small amounts of cocaine. if debra madden is convicted she faces a federal charge that carries a possible prison term of four years. she is accused of stealing cocaine from the police crime lab back in 2009. firefighters are slowly gaining ground on the fire near campo in san diego county. the flames have burned nearly 3,000 acres inquest troy -- and destroyed at least 20 homes.

morning, to you. thank you for joining us here on the channel 2 morning news. middle of the week. wednesday september 26th i'm dave clark. >> and i'm pam cook. time now is 6:30. here's a story you will only see on 2. hundreds of pot plants seized in san jose. overnight police spent several hours clearing out a building on charter park drive. janine de la vega has been there since 4:30 this morning talking to people that work nearby. janine. >> reporter: yeah. that is right. i just spoke to somebody off camera that works in the area. this is a pretty industrial area of san jose. she told me she could always smell marijuana in the air. and that most likely was coming from this business which is called onlinefurniturebuy.com. that is because they found hundreds of marijuana plants nearby. down on the ground you can see the paraphernalia that has been left over. invoice pad, this is a bud blood a fertilizer and a temperature gauge police found

inside. just after 10 crank last night police got -- just after 10:00 last night police guilty a call from someone doing a maintenance check. they found 200 marijuana plants growing inside. they found a lab rat lighting and infiltration system. >> 250 plants is a significant bust. it's a phenomenon that has been happening throughout the city. so i wouldn't say it's a surprise. it's definitely a good amount of marijuana. >> police say the furniture business appears to be a front for the grow operation. there is an office desk and compute tear can be seen inside. we went to the website for onlinefurniturebuy.com but it comes from a different address. i called the phone number and nobody is answering that phone. police tell me that it's 50 pounds of usable marijuana product that they confiscated

and that has a street value of $150-$250,000. they also plan on sending out their narcotics unit to follow up to try to catch up with this tenant to find out what he was doing inside here. reporting live from san jose janine de la vega. ktvu channel 2 news. time now 6:32. overnight news san jose police say a restaurant cook out on a work break became the latest victim of the growing violence on the streets of san jose. he is now in critical condition after being attacked late last night outside of a 7-eleven store on south white road. police are telling ktvu news the cook was taking a brief break from his job at a nearby restaurant when he was stabbed and brutally beaten. ktvu talked to the police a little while ago. they are still searching for suspects. >> we have several witnesses that came forward to help us with this investigation. we believe it was two hispanic males that left the area. prior to us getting there. we are going to do follow up

and hopefully get these people in custody. >> right now it's not clear what led up to that attack. firefighters have cleared the scene of this house fire on midhurste court. the fire started last night in the garage. it quickly spread to the roof and the attic. the fire crews stayed there until just about 30 minutes ago. they were worried the roof might collapse. five people did escape without any injuries. they are now looking for temporary places to live. san leandro safeway store became a crime scene during the night but it has reopened now to customers. police say five gunmen robbed the check out stands last night. ktvu eric rasmussen is at the store right now on bancroft way. with the latest information. >> reporter: as you said this safeway just reopened its doors in the last 30 minutes. employees here this morning were not on duty last night but they told me they were aware of what happened to their

coworkers and said some were shaken up. san leandro police say as many as five armed men rushed into this safeway around 9:00 last night. they apparently went right for the cash registers in front. investigators say it happened so quickly the men were in and out in a matter of minutes. detectives closed down the super market. there is surveillance video of the robbery and police confirm they are taking a close look at it today to try to identify the people responsible. in the last hour a neighbor here told us this is not the first problem they've had around here. >> it's going to happen. you know. it's bound to happen. you know. you have people that get mugged out here, cars get broken into it. it happens. where i live my car got stolen one time. >> reporter: and in just the last few minutes i checked back with san leandro police. they had no new information. still gathering evidence about what happened here. and of course we will be

following up with them throughout the day. again we also talked to one employee who told us she did not know if her coworkers that were caught up in this robbery would even be coming back to work today. live in san leandro eric rasmussen. chp is looking for the drivers involved in a rolling shootout on interstate 580. officers found this car riddled with bullet holes on the shoulder of 580 last night. they believe someone in another car fired the shots while both cars were moving at about 7:30 last night. no reports of any injuries or arrests. the investigation shut down two miles of westbound 580 for 90 minutes. the san diego sheriffs department is waiting for an update on the conditions of two deputies who were injured during a 15 minute shootout yesterday. investigators say a 30-year-old suspect opened fire during a child sex abuse investigation. that suspect was also injured. both deputies under went surgery. the sheriff is only saying that he is cautiously optimistic about their recovery.

arraigned today on child pornography charges. 66-year-old larry brinkin was arrested last week after they found graphic photos of children on his computer. he was first arrested on similar charge charges in june but they did not file charges saying they needed more time to in fact. two men from sunnyvale were arrest the accused of stealing 49 laptop computers from facebook's old headquarters. 20-year-old brandon simon is a security guard. he used to work at the palo alto campus. he was arrested along with 21- year-old travis calhoun. police pulled them over a short time later. police say they recovered all of the stolen items. facebook completed its move to menlo park but still has equipment at the old palo alto location. bart is saying an electrical

surge was the reason for that unusual sight in san francisco ten days ago. look at these pictures. you see the brief flash of orange in the upper left hand picture and the smoke fills the bart station. barts chief engineer says that was an arch of 1,000-volts of electricity caused by metallic debris on the tracks. he says there was never any fire and that surge caused very little damage. he was a billionaire entrepreneur that helped coplan papal. now he has plans to revolutionize travel. coming up we'll have more on his new vision. there could be progress in the standoff between american airlines and its pilots.

hearing is scheduled for 2:00 this morning for for the man acaused of kidnapping and killing sierra lamar. he was arrested in may but sierra lamar's body has not been found. investigators say they have dna evidence linking him to the 15- year-old lamar who disappeared in march. san francisco is dealing with its first human case of the west nile virus in seven years. health officials say an unidentified man was hospitalized with the virus late last month. he has not traveled recently so he most likely contracted the mosquito born illness here in the bay area. just last week a dead bird infected with the west nile was near san francisco college. san francisco city college may shut down two of its campuses. they have to come up with a plan to reorganize its finances. shutting down the castro and
